Room Hire Info

 Hello! In a nutshell, we have two rooms which you can read more about below, which are FREE to hire.  If the room is not reserved it is made available to other customers, so we need to make sure we’re doing the right thing reserving it. Essentially we need you to spend a bit of money over the bar in advance or on the night, so below you can read the requirements.


MAP ROOM…Capacity: 17 seated/20 standing comfortably

Best used for: Meetings, baby showers, tasting sessions

  • There is no minimum spend requirement to book the Map room, but we expect you to buy all food and drink from us.
  • There must, however, be a minimum of 8 of you (except during weekday daytimes when we are less busy, so happy to have smaller meetings. Please note when using the Booking system you will need to enter 8 for it to allow you to book).
  • A week before the event finalise any buffet or preordered drink requirements with us via email (not forgetting what time you would like them served). These will need to be paid for (via bank transfer or card over the phone – an invoice can be produced if requested) before the day of the booking.
  • You need to enter your card details to book the room. There is a £50 charge for no show, details about damage charges below

BOSTA ROOM…Capacity: 40 place settings for more formal dining/50 audience/60 standing

Best used for: Private parties, Wedding receptions (Mon – Fri hire the rest of the floor, total capacity 120) Conferences, Comedy shows, you get the idea…

  • Minimum spend requirements *:
    • Sunday to Friday 10am-5pm = £200
    • Sunday to Thursday from 5pm until we close = £200
    • Saturday 10am-2pm = £200
    • Saturday 2pm-7pm = £200
    • Friday/Saturday evening 7pm until we close = £500
  • If your event crosses two times combine both spends. So if you want to hire earlier than 7pm on a Saturday night, the minimum spend is £700.
  • If you do not make the Minimum spend requirement you will be charged up to £200. If any damage is caused/intense clean up required we will charge according to the damage (e.g confetti use £20-50) up to a maximum of £200. We will contact you to discuss costs before making any charges. If you do not reply within a week management will make a decision on the total and the card used to make the booking will be charged
  • * The minimum spend requirement is a guide to the absolute minimum we would hope for you to spend on the day or in advance on prepaid items.
  • A week before the event:
    • finalise any Buffet, Tea urn or discounted bundle drink (see info below) requirements with us via email
    • we will reply with a total and our bank details for transferring payment or can provide an invoice on request
    • don’t forget to let us know what time you would like any food or drinks served.
  • This Room has a small stage and a cable to allow you to play your own music (more details below) but other than that we do not provide any facilities like screens or projectors.

  • You have reserved the room from the time you book. Meaning that you cannot get access to the room to decorate before this time. You are welcome to drop decorations or cakes off the day before and leave them with us at your own risk
  • We can move out tables and chairs on and around the stage if you need more standing space, choose ‘dance floor’ option when booking
  • We are proud to lease and look after this beautiful old building, however unfortunately it has no wheelchair access for upstairs.  We can seat up to 8 people downstairs, if one of your party can’t manage the stairs please email
  •  We love dogs but we can’t assume that all our customers would be happy to eat next to one, or sit on a seat previously occupied by your furry friend.  Therefore we took the difficult decision not to allow dogs other than guide dogs into the building.

The food and drink offers

  • You are welcome to bring your own celebration cake, all other food must be bought from us.
  • You can see our buffet menus on the food and drink page
  • We can provide a Tea urn and biscuits for an advance payment of £3 a head
  • If you prepay for 5 bottles of anything (Beer, Prosecco etc) you get the 6th FREE (see our drinks menu or regular menu, which includes soft drinks, on the food & drink page)
  • If you order from the menu it will go in the queue with other orders, we have a small kitchen. We do not take preorders but for weekday bookings you can order in the morning and ask us to bring the food up at a certain time.
  • We ask that you provide final numbers a week before the event and pay by the day before.
  • For businesses we can provide a Day Delegate Rate from £10pp which includes a Tea Urn, biscuits and sandwich buffet


  •  In the Map room we can switch off the music for meetings, but there is no facility to play your own. You can bring a speaker as long as we can’t hear the music outside of the room
  • Our rooms are free to hire, no equipment such as TVs, Projectors or microphones are included.  You can hire equipment to be delivered here at any time but we will not sign to accept liability.

There is box and aux cable in the Bosta room, on the stage, to enable you to plug in: a phone or laptop with a headphone jack (for newer iphones you will need to bring an adaptor); 2 microphones via xlr; a PA directly into our speakers for small gigs via xlr (we do not provide any equipment like microphones, you would need to bring these)

Please note that due to planning conditions any amplified music must be played through our speakers/limiter

The decorations
You are welcome to decorate however you’d like.  Please do not use Sellotape, confetti (including confetti balloons) or stickers, or you will be charged a damage fee.

The licence
We cannot have anyone drinking outside after 11pm.   We have no restrictions on children attending, but they must be accompanied by an adult at all times after 7pm.  We do not cater for 18ths or under 18 gigs.  We serve up until 11pm on weekdays and can go up to 1am on Friday and Saturday nights with 2 weeks notice (to allow us to rota staff).
